Part of my job is to monitor both traditional media and blogs from across the political spectrum for coverage of the California Senate race. It tends to generate a lot of buzz for a variety of reasons- from the sheer size of the state and its economy to its reputation as a national leader and bellwether to the prominence and leadership of both Senators Boxer and Feinstein.

These past few weeks though have been something else.

It’s clear that the Republican establishment is lining up to kick this into another gear. Notorious Republican prognosticator Dick Morris has predicted that Fiorina will defeat Boxer as part of a GOP retake of the Senate and just yesterday, no less than Karl Rove wrote a bullish analysis of multi-millionaire failed-CEO Carly Fiorina’s challenge to Senator Boxer. It came on the heels of new financial disclosure records showing that Fiorina may be worth well over $100 million and fighting continued in the GOP primary over what Chuck DeVore believes is special treatment being given Fiorina by the DC party establishment.

Every time Barbara Boxer steps up to fight for progress, the right steps up its attacks on her.
