But in a state the size of California, advertising is essential to reach the 10 million voters likely to vote in November. And all types of advertising – online, radio, television, newspapers – is more expensive now than six years ago when Barbara last ran for the Senate.

In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decision that’s opened the floodgates to corporate spending, we could be facing millions in independent expenditure advertising. We’ll need even more to tell our story and set the record straight.

Just give your page a name that shows why you’re getting involved to support Barbara, personalize a brief thank you message, and you’re up and running. And not a moment too soon, because we need you out there advocating, telling people the truth about Senator Boxer, and getting more people involved in our campaign.

Anything could happen in the Republican primary, but we know that any of the candidates would emerge from the primary ready to mount a serious challenge. Tom Campbell has become the instant frontrunner in the Republican primary, has spent decades in politics and knows what it takes to run statewide. Chuck DeVore is developing an expansive network of grassroots, small-dollar donors, including the Tea Party movement, that he’ll be able to go back to again and again as the campaign goes on. And Carly Fiorina, despite saying she couldn’t fund her own campaign, recently wrote herself a $2.5 million check to keep her campaign going. She still has millions left from her HP severance package and can open her checkbook whenever she needs more.

What we have is you. We can meet any of these challenges but we can’t wait, we all need to gear up now. Recent polls show that all three Republicans are well within striking distance, we need to move now to lock it down.
